Well for some of the names they had on the team, last years Penguins were pretty terrible, or you can mix and match with last year’s Blues or last year’s Blackhawks. But over the past three or four years it’s been the Penguins, they’ve had the no. 1 or no. 2 pick like four years in a row now.
There is a late 1980’s Capital team that failed to win 10 games and they have the worst record in modern NHL history. I don’t remember the exact year though.
You’ll find it on hockeydb.com though if you look.
It’s hard to say what hockey team is the all time worst because each team changes every year and you can never really determine who has been horrible every season because they always seem to pick it up before everyone notices! Also, I would like to correct a previous answer to the question that Vancouver has never won the Cup…the Canucks have never won BUT Vancouver itself has won the cup! The Vancouver Millionaires in 1915! So technically all the Canadian teams have won the cup! Only the team name has changed…same city!
Vancouver has it’s name on the stanley cup, I have a picture of it. Albeit it’s not the canucks…
Nonetheless, I think the worst city for franchise hockey is Washington. As long as I can remember they haven’t done anything really significant. At one time they had a decent team, but still no big victories.
As for whoever said Ottawa, I know you’re entitled to your opinion but Ottawa has more winning seasons in the last 5 years than any other team and they also have their name on the cup atleast 5 times. Infact the top portion (the bowl/cup) itself is practically dominated by ottawa.
I’ve seen the Stanley Cup in Lethbridge AB twice when Jamie Pushor brought it from Detroit. I saw it this year when Cam Ward from Red Deer AB brought it. I saw it last year when the Hall of Famers toured with it.

The Philadelphia Quakers. I think they hold the all time record losses

the Vancouver Canucks. The only Canadian team that’s never won a Stanley Cup. Capitals would rank high too. I agree.
Flordia panthers are up there

Wasington Capitals…even when they had big name stars…they still sucked
Ottawa Senators by far.
Why?
They are one of the best team during the regular season but come playoff time they always choke!
The California Seals.
Pittsburgh Penguins
