give then small trophy so they can take them home to keep our coach did that when we won the tidle. for first place.
Best GAA, save %, best defensive forward, best defenseman, best rookie, best on power play, best penalty killer, hardest to play against, grittiest, hardest shot. i’m sure there more but can’t think of any.
Inspirational awards “most team spirit” , “Rudy Award”, those kinds of things…
Make some fun ones as well. “Best high sticking” or “Checker Deluxe”… Anyone missing any teeth? “Best argument for a Dental Plan”
With the serious you should have the goofy just to even it out.
You can also have recognition for best defensive player, offensive player, etc.
Defensive forward of the year, offensive defencemen of the year.most sportsmanlike,
You should arrange to have their names engraved on the Stanley Cup.
Depending on the age of the team, awards for individual performance can do more harm than good. USA Hockey prefers that scoring statistics not be kept for younger players. Focusing on goals scored tends to promote more selfish play and less passing too.
I’d suggest awards for the team and if you want to give out individual awards make sure everyone gets one – goal of the year, pass of the year, defensive play of the year, ironman – and keep it light. There are parents who will be furious that their child wasn’t the MVP.
You’re a coach, right?
If this is a youth league then just make up awards, like Most Expected to Be Seen In The Penalty Box, you know, just stuff to make the players and their parents laugh
But if this is for like a high school team or a college team, then definitely stick with MVP, most goals scored etc. Also, add in Best Shooting Percentage, Best Goalie, Most Helpful (assists), Best Special Teams Player, Most Valuable Defensive Player, and Hardest Hitter
most sportsman
most improved defense
most defensive player
most dedicated
YOU PRETTY MUCH COVERED THE BASICS.THERE CAN BE A FEW MORE SUCH AS:
1.SPIRIT AWARD,THE PLAYER WHO GOES OUT PLAYS EVERY SHIRT HARD AND DOES THE LITTLE THINGS ON THE ICE THAT MAY NOT SHOW UP ONTHE STAT SHEET.
2.BEST DEFENSEMAN
3.BEST DEFENSIVE FORWARD,THE PLAYER THAT GOES OUT WINS DRAWS,MAKES DEFENSE 1st PRIORITY
do something like team leader.
stuff like that.
